The Resume Loop

A resume is not something you write once. It is something you loop on until it holds up.

Most AI resume advice hands you one prompt and a promise. You paste in your CV, something polished comes back, and you have no way of knowing whether any of it is still true.

This works differently. Across all twenty-one prompts, the AI is never allowed to invent a fact about you. It interviews you instead of guessing. It criticises its own drafts before showing them. When a fact is missing, it stops and asks rather than filling the gap. And at the end it hands your document to a fresh session that has no reason to be kind about it.

That is Loop Engineering: decide what finished means, then run the work through cycles until it gets there.

How to use this

Stage 1

Mine the Evidence

Nothing gets written here. The AI asks, you answer, and it asks again until the answer would mean something to a stranger.

Engine · Find-and-Check

Stage 2

Set the Target

Decide what the document has to prove, and for which job, before writing a word of it.

Engine · Plan-First

Stage 3

Build it

The AI drafts, attacks its own draft, then rewrites. Where a fact is missing, it stops and asks you instead of inventing one.

Engine · Draft-Critique-Improve + Ask-Before-Acting

Stage 4

Aim it

One job, one version. Plan the changes first, make them second, and log every single one.

Engine · Manager-and-Worker + Ask-Before-Acting

Stage 5

Break it

Set the conditions the document has to pass, then attack it until it does — including from a session that never helped write it.

Engine · Keep-Trying-Until-It-Passes + Creator-and-Judge + Team-of-Specialists

Stage 6

Keep it Alive

Capture what happened while you still remember it, and diagnose it properly when nothing comes back.

Engine · Standing-Routine + Watch-and-Adjust

How this was tested

These prompts were run against real documents before this page went up — seven CVs ranging from thirty-year careers to a first resume, a live LinkedIn profile, and two real job advertisements. Twenty-eight defects were found and fixed, including two prompts that could only ever report success. The complete set then went through further independent review rounds, which found more.

Most of what changed made the prompts more honest rather than more capable: they now tell you what they cannot check, instead of sounding certain about it. Nineteen of the twenty-one have been run against real documents. The two in Stage 6 have been checked for how they behave, but whether they work over a year is something only a year will tell.

The loop does not stop at your resume

The same six moves — gather before you write, plan before you build, criticise your own draft, ask before you invent, test against conditions you set in advance, and never grade your own homework — work on anything you are trying to get right with an AI. A proposal. A report. A lesson plan. A contract review.
